Green Monster Smoothie

There is a trend in the healthy eating world: the Green Monster Smoothie. As you can see, it's an unnatural (or perhaps supernatural) shade of green. The secret ingredient? Spinach!

Now, I know what you're thinking: ew. Spinach smoothie. But there is a secret: raw spinach has nearly no flavour. Add a banana, some PB - and it tastes like dessert!

Green Monster Smoothie
1 cup milk
1 cup raw spinach
1 frozen banana
1 tbsp peanut butter
(optional: 1 tbsp flax seed meal, protein powder)

Blend all in a blender. Drink up!

  1. Thanks uncanny! I had no idea what this was! I wonder if I can substitute the banana for something else. Suggestions?

  2. Stick with light-colored fruit if you want it to be green: pineapple, melon, peach, etc. Anything strongly colored (like berries) will turn it brown.

  3. Good call! I have peaches and nectarines that I can stick in there. I like the idea of the spinach, I would have never thought of that.

  4. I wanted to stop by and say THANK YOU! I make these daily and love them. So easy to drink on my way to work. My husband enjoys them too.
